Connected!

I have internet access in my apartment! I also have cable but no television - it is being delivered Thursday. I went to Starhub, the local internet and cable provider at 4:45 pm and was back in my place with internet access by 5:30 pm. It was all taken care of remotely and they didn't even need to show up to turn it on. You gotta love the efficiency.

It's also nice to have the entertainment of the internet. I'm currently on a teleconference and multi-tasking while on it. It's one of those teleconferences where I have to listen and don't have to participate so I don't feel too bad about multi-tasking. Plus, I need to get my first post on the blog from the new access point.

The other fun thing I did today was pay my electric bill. Guess where? The post office...how fun! I could also pay it at the local 7/11 convenience store but that seems a bit sketchy to me. Plus, we all know how much fun it is for me to go to the post office so I'm totally going to go there to pay the bill each month.

Singapore isn't quite up on the internet banking and paying by credit cards like we are in the US. Well, you can, but you have to do it all through a local bank account so it is more like drawing off of a check card instead of a credit card. And almost everything here is paid for by cash. Back home I never carried cash...I used my check card or credit card so this is a huge change for me.
