Poofy white clouds

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

The past couple of days in Durham have been warm, sunny, with blue skies and big white clouds. I like to call these poofy white clouds. They are not puffy...that is more of a bloated, accidental size. Poofy (pronounced poo-fee) is the type of cloud that is large and float through the sky. These are the clouds that make for a perfect afternoon of laying on the grass watching them float by and guessing what shapes they make.

A funny side store is that I have always called them poofy instead of puffy. I was out playing tennis with my friend Stacie last year and the sky was full of them so we took a moment to comment on what a few looked like. I made a comment about how much I liked poofy clouds and she looked at me and laughed. She said, you mean puffy? I said, no poofy...and that is when I realized to most everyone else they are puffy.

I have always liked poofy white clouds, ever since I was a young kid. The reason I'm blogging about them is because you don't get to see them in Singapore. The sky in Singapore is typically either completely blue or completely cloud covered. At night you can get some interesting clouds but they aren't usually big and poofy.

So, I'll ask a favor of you - the next time you see poofy white clouds, stop for a moment and enjoy them...maybe even try and see if you can see a picture in one of them...then smile!
