Off the beaten path - Hoi An

While we were in Hoi An we took a day to take a motorcycle trip into the country to see a bit more of Vietnam. We booked with Hoi An Motorbike Adventures and would certainly recommend them.
We started the day at about 8am and they picked us up and they took us to their shop. We were on bikes like the ones pictured above. Alan, our guide, and another guy all had their own and I rode on the back of the bike with the mechanic (who we thankfully didn't need).
We went through a bunch of different parts of the countryside that we never would have seen. They took us through these little villages...
We stopped at a couple of tourist type stops...a temple...
And also at a war memorial...
Our guide pointed out a very funny thing on one of the memorials...
If you look closely at the picture above you'll see a nerd (upper left-hand picture) and an old school computer (on the right). This was some sort of war memorial and he basically said that it couldn't have been fought without the nerds and the computers...too funny! I wonder how many people stop at this thing and never take note of these?
We also were able to see some amazing bits of the countryside. It was raining off and on while we were out but was still beautiful.
We stopped at a couple of great little roadside restaurants for snacks and lunch. The type of places that you drive by but would probably never stop on your own cause they look a little dodgy. The food was very tasty and it was more fun because it wasn't someplace we would normally stop.
We crossed some great little bridges...
And the countryside where the rice was being planted was just amazing...
Alan certainly had a lot of fun driving an old Russian motorcycle...
And I had a great time riding on the back taking pictures along the way. It was nice to just be able to enjoy the scenery and have my only concern be to stay on the back of the bike...
