Chinese celebrations...

or so we thought...

 

This picture was taken at Chinese Gardens in Singapore.  I thought there would be a ton of decorations and all of the pagodas would be lit up in honor of Chinese New Year.  We took the train all the way out of the city and pretty much saw what you see in the picture above.  I'm pretty shocked that there was nothing fancy given that yesterday was the actual first day of the New Year.  Apparently I was wrong...at least Tom was able to use the ATM at the MRT station at Chinese Gardens...and the weather was nice...oh well!

Before we headed out we stopped at Long Bar at the Raffles Hotel and I had my first Singapore Sling.  It is the only cocktail that is famous in Singapore and this bar is where it originated. 

It was tasty and now I can say I have had one...and you get to throw your peanut shells on the floor...for some reason, that makes me happy.
